The National Senior Citizens Law Center believes that government should provide a safety net for older adults and people with disabilities. Spending taxpayer dollars on Social Security and other benefits programs for low-income older adults is one of the fundamental reasons for taxing people in the first place. Throughout our history, we have fought to preserve that safety net in the courts and with policymakers. In recent cases, we have sought to reinstate Social Security benefits for those who had been wrongfully denied them or helped to make sure that older adults who are blind or visually impaired can actually read notices that have great import to them.
